This article addresses several items that currently are not documented in the SP2Readme.htm file for SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

The following information has changed since publication of the SP2Readme.htm:


Version of SQL Server
To identify which version of SQL Server 2000 you have installed when you use the osql or isql utilities or the Query window in SQL Query Analyzer, at the command prompt type:

SELECT @@VERSION

The following table shows the relationship between the version string reported by @@VERSION and the SQL Server 2000 version number.

Microsoft has found the following issues in SQL Server 2000 SP2, which are not currently documented in the SP2Readme.htm file:
  • Sample Database FoodMart 2000 cannot connect from the Analysis Manager:

    When you run the Japanese, Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), German or French versions of Microsoft Windows XP and matching versions of Microsoft Analysis Services Service Pack 2 (SP2), you may not be able to connect to the FoodMart 2000 sample database from the Analysis Manager. To resolve this issue, restore the database from the Foodmart2000.cab file.


  • Setup fails when started from Terminal Server Client on localized versions of SQL Server SP2.

    When you attempt to install a localized version of SQL Server SP2 through Terminal Server, the setup process fails. Microsoft is currently researching this issue and will post additional information when available.
