Scanstate.exe may not work in Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Millennium Edition (306754)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Scanstate.exe tool on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), there may be no response from the command.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you are running the Unicode version of Scanstate.exe. The Unicode version does not run on Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the ANSI version of Scanstate.exe. The ANSI version of Scanstate.exe is located in the VALUEADD\MSFT\USMT\ANSI folder on the Windows XP CD-ROM.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
