INFO: "Encrypt" Has Been Added to the SqlConnection Keywords (306724)

In order to add explicit support for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption between the Microsoft SQL Server server and the client, the SqlConnection object has been extended to support the use of the keyword "encrypt" in the ConnectionString property.

Valid values for this keyword are: true, false, yes, and no.

The following are examples of how to use the keyword "encrypt."

Note In the following sample code, you must change uid=UserName and pwd=StrongPassword to the correct values. Make sure that the user ID has the appropriate permissions to perform this operation on the database.

• SSL encryption is only supported if the SQL Server computer has a valid certificate installed.
