This article was previously published under Q306681

SYMPTOMS

After you install the Windows Support tools, the Active Directory Replication Monitor (Replmon.exe) tool starts successfully, but several options that appear to be available do not function correctly, and dialog boxes may not be displayed.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if a file that is required for Replmon.exe to run is not installed with the Windows Support tools.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem:
  1. Locate a copy of the Tabctl32.ocx file from a previous build of the Windows 2000 Support tools (from the Support\Tools older on a Windows 2000 CD-ROM), and then copy it to the %winnt%\System32 folder of the Windows XP installation.
  2. At a command prompt, change to the %winnt%\System32 folder.
  3. Type regsvr32 tabctl32.ocx, and then press ENTER to register the .ocx file. Note that you should then receive a "DllRegisterServer in TABCTL32.OCX succeeded." message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
