Cannot Open Document Links That Contain DBCS Characters (306476)

SYMPTOMS

You may not be able to open documents by clicking the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) link in the dashboard site if the URL contains double-byte character set (DBCS) characters.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the document URL in the dashboard site is encoded with UTF-8 canonicalization. If the URL contains DBCS characters, the URL might become much longer than expected, and might exceed the maximum URL length limitation for some programs.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SharePoint Portal Server 2001. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
