PRB: Cannot Use Application Center to Deploy Channel and Ports That Use Certificates (306311)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000
This article was previously published under Q306311 SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft Application Center to deploy BizTalk Server channels and ports that use certificates, the deployment fails if the certificates are not installed on the destination BizTalk Server computer prior to the Application Center deployment.
CAUSE
If a certificate is specified in either a port or channel, the BizTalk Server object model verifies that the certificate exists in the appropriate certificate store. If it does not, then creation of the port or channel will fail.
The Application Center driver for BizTalk Server does not support deployment of certificates. Therefore, when you use Application Center to deploy BizTalk Server channels and ports that use certificates, the certificates must be installed on the destination computer prior to the Application Center deployment.
RESOLUTION
Install all certificates on the destination BizTalk Server computer prior to using Application Center to deploy channels and ports that are dependent on these certificates.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
