Restore Point Creation Takes Up to 10 Minutes if the WMI Service Is Not Running (305992)

When you try to create either a restore point, your computer may take up to 10 minutes to create it. This symptom occur with manual restore point creation or automatic system checkpoints.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service is disabled.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, make sure that the WMI service is enabled:
- Double-click Administrative Tools in Control Panel, and then double-click Computer Management.
- Expand Services and Applications.
- Click Services, and then double-click Windows Management Instrumentation.
- Make sure that the "Startup type" is set to "Automatic".
- If the "Service status" is "Stopped" or "Paused", click Start or Resume.
- Run System Restore again to create the restore points.
