OL2000: "Mapisp32 Caused an IPF in Module Minet32.dll" Error Message Appears During a Send and Receive (305986)

SYMPTOMS

While you are performing a Send and Receive operation in Outlook 2000 Corporate or Workgroup (CW) version, you may receive the following error message:
Mapisp32 caused an IPF in module minet32.dll
Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and have them delete all read messages from your mailbox on the POP server.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following two conditions are true:
  • You use Outlook for access to the same Post Office Protocol (POP) server from two different computers.
  • You have Outlook configured both to leave a copy of each message on the server and to delete messages after a specified number of days.
If a particular message is too large and Outlook does not delete the message, Outlook may be unable to receive e-mail and may generate this error message.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, do one of the following:
  • Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to have the ISP delete all read messages from the POP server.
  • Create and run a rule in Outlook to delete messages from the POP server. It is recommended that you download mail to a personal folder on your local drive before proceeding with these steps.
    1. In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click Services.
    2. Under The following information services are set up in this profile, click Internet E-mail - mail account name.
    3. Click Properties, and then click the Advanced tab.
    4. Click to clear the Leave a copy of messages on server check box, and then click OK.
    5. In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click Rules Wizard.
    6. Click New, select Check messages when they arrive, and then click Next.
    7. Select with a size within a specific range, and then click in a specific range in the lower box.
    8. In the At least box, type 1000. In the At most box, type 10000, and then click OK.
    9. Click Next, select delete it, and then click Finish.
    10. Click Run Now, click the rule that you just created, and then click Run Now.
    11. Click Send and Receive. If the error persists, lower the range on the rule from 1000 to 0 to delete all mail, regardless of its size.
