After you upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP Professional on a computer that runs Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition (SE), if you use a Synaptics Touchpad version 5.0.5 or 5.0.65, the touchpad icon may be missing from the system tray.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, reinstall the Synaptics Touchpad software after you successfully complete the upgrade.
