Computer Stops Responding After You Receive "Setting Up Personalized Settings for: CRLUpdate" Message (305656)

When you restart your computer after you download and install an update from the Microsoft Update Web site, you may receive the following message:
Setting up personalized settings for: CRLUpdate
At this point, your computer may stop responding (hang), and you are unable to start Windows.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if your computer is infected with the Pretty Park virus.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact an antivirus software manufacturer to obtain an up-to-date version of an antivirus program that can detect and disinfect the Pretty Park virus from your computer.
Microsoft does not provide software that can detect or remove computer viruses. If you suspect or confirm that your computer is infected with a virus, obtain current antivirus software. To work around this issue, disable the Pretty Park virus. To do this, restart your computer in Safe mode, and then follow the instructions in the "Resolution" section of the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
