This behavior occurs because the Routing and Remote Access services (RRAS) is enabled but not configured correctly. RRAS may log error messages in the System event log.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, repair the problems in RRAS or disable RRAS if you do not use it. To do this:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Routing and Remote Access.
  2. In the list of local servers, right-click the server, and then click Disable Routing and Remote Access.
Note When you disable RRAS, any RRAS configurations that you may have are lost. Therefore, disable RRAS only if you are certain that you can reconfigure it or if do not need the feature.
