OFF2000: Internal Error 2735 Referencing Out128.dll When You Install Office 2000 (305504)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Microsoft Office 2000, you receive an internal error 2735 that references the Out128.dll file.

The verbose log file contains the following:

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the original Office 2000 CD-ROM is dirty, damaged, or defective.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, clean your CD-ROM with a commercially available CD-ROM cleaner and scratch remover.

If cleaning the CD-ROM does not work, contact Microsoft or your local vender to obtain a replacement copy.

To install Office 2000, follow these steps:

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
Insert your Office 2000 CD-ROM.
Under the Install/Uninstall tab, click Install.
Follow the Installation Wizard to complete the installation.
