PPT2000: Slide Is Not Printed Correctly When You Set Slide Size to Banner (305214)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q305214 WARNING:This information is preliminary and has not been confirmed or tested by Microsoft. Use only with discretion. SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft PowerPoint, when you set the slide size to Banner, and then change the slide size settings so that the slide is larger than your paper size, PowerPoint may not print the slide correctly. For example, the information may be compressed to all fit on one slide. As a result, you are unable to create or print a multi-paged banner.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because PowerPoint is not designed to create multi-paged banners. You set the slide size to Banner when you want to create graphic banners for individual Web pages. When you click Page Setup on the File menu, and then select Banner in the Slides sized for box, the width and height settings for the slides are eight inches and one inch, respectively. When you attempt to change these settings, PowerPoint changes the Slides sized for setting from Banner to Custom.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use either of the following methods, as appropriate to your situation.
Method 1
Save the slide as a graphic file, and then open the file in a graphics program in which you can further manipulate and tile the graphic to create the banner that you want. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start PowerPoint, and then open your presentation.
- On the File menu, click Save As.
- In the Save As dialog box, type a name for the file in the File name box, and then click the graphics file format that you want in the Save as type box. For example, click GIF Graphics Interchange Format (*.gif) if you want to save the slide as a GIF file.
- Click Save.
Method 2
Use another program, such as Microsoft Publisher, to create the banner that you want.
