PIP2001: Error Message When You Install: Internal Error 2103.48 (305208)

When you attempt to install any of the products listed at the beginning of this article, you may receive the following error message:
Internal error 2103.48
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if Microsoft Internet Explorer is not properly installed on your system.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, reinstall Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps.
NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps. Quit All Unnecessary Programs
To quit all unnecessary programs, follow these steps:
- Press CTRL+ALT+DEL.
- In the Close Program dialog box, click a program that you want to close, and then click End Task.
NOTE: Do not close the Windows Explorer or Systray programs. They are Windows components. If you close these programs, your computer will be shut down. - Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each program that is unnecessary.
Download the Most Recent Version of Internet Explorer
To download the most recent version of Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
- Start Internet Explorer.
- Browse to the following Microsoft Web site:
- Click the most recent version of Internet Explorer that is appropriate for your computer.
Uninstall Internet Explorer
You can uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 from the following Microsoft Windows operating systems: - Microsoft Windows 95
- Microsoft Windows 98
- Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
- Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
- Microsoft Windows 2000
NOTE: You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 from Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me).
NOTE: You must have administrative privileges to install or uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000.
To uninstall Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools in the list of installed programs, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Restore the previous Windows configuration or click Advanced to specify any additional components that you want to remove, and then click OK.
- In the Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools Setup dialog box, click OK to restore the previous version of Internet Explorer and shared components.
- When the confirmation message appears, click Yes.
- Restart your computer when prompted.
Install Internet Explorer 5.5
To install Internet Explorer 5.5, follow these steps:
- Insert the program installation disc into the CD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key as you insert the compact disc to prevent the Setup
program from starting automatically.
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
- In the Named box, type ie5setup.exe.
- In the Look in box, select the CD-ROM drive.
- Click Find Now.
- In the Search Results pane, double-click ie5setup.exe, and follow the instructions to install Internet Explorer.
