SUMMARY

After you install a Windows 2000 service pack by using the Update.msi file, the service pack entry in the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel has a trailing 4-digit number in brackets (for the language code).

MORE INFORMATION

A unique, language-specific Update.msi file is included with each language version of the service pack. The language code is used in the package name because administrators can assign service packs from different languages in a group policy. The only way to distinguish the service pack language version is by using the number that indicates the language.
