When you use the MAPADMIN LIST command to query a User Name Mapping server while the server is down, you receive a list that shows the mappings are empty instead of a notification that the server is down.

The MAPADMIN LIST command generates a list of user and group mappings from a designated User Name Mapping server.
The Mapadmin.exe utility is a command line utility for Windows Services For UNIX (SFU). This tool provides the ability to configure the SFU User Name Mapping database from a command prompt or by using a script.
Windows SFU 2.2 OEM Only is only available through Original Equipment Manufacturers. Windows SFU 2.2 is designed to be installed only on Windows Powered computers.
