MORE INFORMATION
Windows Services for UNIX includes the Mapadmin command-line utility with its Backup and Restore features. This utility is useful for configuring the User Name Mapping service from a command line or by using a script.
The Backup and Restore features only work on advanced maps: Other configuration information is neither backed up nor restored by using these features.
User Name Mapping includes two types of mappings, advanced and simple.
Simple maps are dynamic and are re-created each time the User Name Mapping service is started. When you use simple maps, the user and group maps in Windows and UNIX that are identical are automatically mapped to each other in a one-to-one association.
Advanced maps enable mapping multiple Windows users or groups to a single UNIX user or group. Advanced maps can also be used for mapping dissimilar Windows and UNIX users and groups. However, advanced maps are not dynamic. They are created manually by using either the Mapadmin utility or the Services for UNIX administrator.
Because simple maps are dynamic, they are not backed up by using the backup command of the Mapadmin utility.
Windows Services for UNIX, version 2.2 OEM Only is only available from OEMs. Windows Services for UNIX version 2.2 is designed to be installed only on Windows-powered computers.
