NFSADMIN Incorrectly Allows the Creation of Client Groups with Names That Are Longer Than 64 Characters (305121)

SYMPTOMS

After you run the nfsadmin server creategroup a group name that is longer than 64 characters command on a computer that is running Windows Services for UNIX version 2.2, you receive a "The settings were successfully updated" message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Windows Services for UNIX supports client group names that are 64 characters or less. The Services for UNIX Administrator tool does not accept more than 64 characters.

Windows Services for UNIX 2.2 OEM Only version of SFU is only available through original equipment manufacturers. Windows Services for UNIX version 2.2 is designed to be installed only on Windows Powered computers.
