XIMS: Newsgroup Folder Created by Using MAPI Under Internet Newsgroups Is Not Picked Up by NNTP Until a Service Cycles (304993)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Exchange System Manager to create new newsgroups in Exchange 2000 Server, the newsgroup may not be displayed in Microsoft Outlook Express, whether you refresh the server or not. The newsgroup is displayed only when you stop and restart the Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) service on the server.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
