Interactive calls over a data modem by a TAPI3 application do not work as expected (304909)

This article was previously published under Q304909 SYMPTOMS When a TAPI3 application tries to make an interactive call
over a data modem, the operation may not be successful. Specifically, the call
may remain stuck in an "in progress" state. No dialog box is ever displayed.
CAUSE This issue occurs if the Unimodem driver lacks the code to
display the Talk/Drop dialog box when an interactive voice
call is made over a data modem. RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is
now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem
that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are
experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft
recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Windows 2000 service pack that
contains this hotfix. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
