OFFXP: File That You Removed Is Still Listed When You Reopen Transform File (304889)

SYMPTOMS

When you reopen a transform file (.mst) in the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW), a file that you removed from the Remove Files tab in the Add/Remove Files dialog box is still listed.

CAUSE

The Custom Installation Wizard visually removes the file from the list for the Remove Files tab, but when you click Finish, the wizard fails to remove any files from this list.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must create a new transform with the Custom Installation Wizard. You cannot reopen an existing transform file and remove a file that is listed on the Remove Files tab in the Add/Remove Files dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
