Cannot Save Product with Non-US User Locale on the Business Desk Server (304879)

When you use locale settings on the server that hosts the Commerce Server Business Desk, if the settings have a different date format than the date format configured in Microsoft SQL Server, you cannot save the product and the following error message occurs:
Script Error:
Number: 0x80040E07
Description: Source: Microsoft OLE Provider for SQL Server Description The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime.
This problem only occurs if a datetime property has been added to the product definition and variants are defined for the product.
CAUSE
Commerce Server creates a SQL query with the wrong date format.
RESOLUTIONA supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 Service Pack that contains this hotfix. After you run the HotfixSetup.exe file, run the CatalogUpgrade.sql file (included in the
hotfix package) in the SQL Query Analyzer against every catalog that is already installed.
WORKAROUND
Make sure that the locale settings for the date format match the settings configured for Microsoft SQL Server.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
