After you upgrade from Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) to Windows XP, the Sound Blaster Live! sound card works, but several Sound Blaster accessories may not work. The upgrade report identifies "Sound Blaster Accessories" as "programs (that) support your computer hardware"; however, certain ones do not work with Windows XP.
Sound Blaster accessories that do not work, and the related symptoms, include:
- The Creative Launcher and Playcenter programs both generate the following error message:
This supports your hardware but is incompatible with Windows XP.
- The AudioHQ program generates the following error message:
No Compatible Audio Device Found.
- The Diagnostics program runs, but the program does not recognize a sound card and you cannot run tests.
- The SB Live! Experience program generates the following error messages:
Initialization was unsuccessful.
Then a program message box displays the following error message:
Windows will now close this program.
- The Disk Detector icon is missing from Control Panel.
