The Highlight newly installed programs feature specifies that a new program that you installed on your computer is highlighted with a different color in the All Programs list.

You can disable or enable the Highlight newly installed programs feature. This feature is available only when you use the new Start menu and the feature is not available if you have the Classic Start menu enabled.

To disable or enable this feature:
  1. Right-click the Start menu, and then click Properties.
  2. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box, click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize.
  3. In the Customize Start Menu dialog box, click the Advanced tab, and then click to clear the Highlight newly installed programs check box.
  4. Click OK, and then click OK again.
