SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), Setup may restart Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and its dependent services, regardless of the original startup settings.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if SNMP and its dependent services are set to manual startup.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, stop the SNMP service manually.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
