No Event Processing If Agent Does Not Load Rules from Configcache File While DCAM Is Unavailable (304669)

When a Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) agent restarts while the Data Access Server/Consolidator/Agent Manager (DCAM) server is not available, the agent may not load rules from the Configcache file and event processing may not occur.

The agent maintains a cache of configuration data and also caches certain events, based on defined rules for the agent, so that if the agent loses the connection to the DCAM server, the agent can continue to process rules.
If the agent restarts while the DCAM is not available, the agent should load rules from the Configcache file that is created locally on the agent in the %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Mission Critical Software\Site Config Name folder.
However, the agent may not load the rules from the Configcache file, which in turn prevents the processing of events. Events that are captured in the event logs are retained, but actions that are based on events do not occur.
After the DCAM is available, you need to restart the OnePoint Service to resume normal agent functioning. AgentHelper.exe, which is a utility that is available in the Support directory of the MOM 2000 CD-ROM, is useful for restarting the agent service on remote computers.
