You Cannot Remove Unnecessary Computers from the All Computers View (304668)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Operations Manager 2000
This article was previously published under Q304668 SYMPTOMS Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000 maintains a list of
all known computers in the database. These computers are listed in the All
Computers view in the Monitor node in the MOM Administrator console.
This view is populated by using the Managed Computer Rule (MCR). The list
includes both current computers that match the MCR and computers that matched
the MCR in the past. This can cause computers of the following types to be
listed:
- Computers that are no longer managed by MOM 2000
- Computers that may have qualified as a MOM target, but on
which the agent was not installed
CAUSE There is no command or option in the All Computers view to
remove computers that are not available or that you do not want MOM to monitor.
Additionally, the All Computers view lists all computer that were
discovered by MOM by using the MCR. Therefore, if the MCR was created with a
wildcard, all computers that match the MCR may be listed whether or not the MOM
agent was installed on a computer. WORKAROUND To remove these computers, contact Microsoft Product
