Warning Message Is Generated When You Create a Network Name Resource in a Cluster (304660)

This article was previously published under Q304660 SYMPTOMS After you create a Network Name resource in Cluster
Administrator or with the Cluster.exe tool, you may receive the following
warning entry in the System log: Event Type :
Warning Event Source : ClusSvc Event Category : Network Name
Resource Event ID : 1149 Description : The DNS Host (A) and Pointer
(PTR) records associated with Cluster resource TestClusterName were not removed
from the resources associated DNS server.
If necessary, they can be
deleted manually. Contact your DNS administrator to assist with this effort.
CAUSE The warning entry that is listed in the "Symptoms" section
of this article is generated when the Network Name resource is initially
created and the resource has not been yet been brought online on the node that
is hosting the resource. The name is also not yet registered in WINS or DNS (if
dynamic DNS is implemented). MORE INFORMATION Once the resource has been brought online, the DNS and WINS
entries are updated. The warning entry that is listed in the "Symptoms" section
of this article can be safely ignored.
