This article describes how to add lyrics to the metadata of stored content (tracks), and then display these lyrics. Windows Media Player for Windows XP provides the ability to add lyrics to a track.

To add lyrics to a track:
  1. Start Windows Media Player.
  2. Click Media Library to view the content that is available in your computer.
  3. Right-click the track you want to add lyrics to, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Lyrics tab, and then type the lyrics that you want to add to the track.
NOTE: Lyrics added to ASX media will not be saved.

To display the lyrics that you have added to a track:
  1. Start Windows Media Player.
  2. Click the track that you have added lyrics to, and then click Play.
  3. In the Now Playing view of Windows Media Player, point to Now Playing Tools on the View menu, and then click Lyrics.
NOTE: If lyrics are added to a track while it is being played, the file must be re-opened in order to display lyrics.
