PRB: Error Messages Returned When Installing Platform SDK (304585)

SYMPTOMS

During installation of the Windows Platform SDK, the user may encounter the following error messages:
Setup failed to configure the platform manager properly.
You will need to reconfigure later.
Platform SDK did not install
Setup will then fail.

CAUSE

Dependencies files were not registered successfully prior to installation.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you should manually register Cemgrps.dll and Cemgrui.dll and rerun Setup:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 cemgrps.dll, and then click OK.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 cemgrui.dll, and then click OK.
  3. Restart Platform SDK Setup.
