INFO: MDAC 2.7 Redistributable Installer Does Not Install on Windows XP (304432)

SUMMARY

Windows XP is shipped with Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 as a part of the operating system. Because of this, the MDAC 2.7 redistributable installer, Mdac_typ.exe, has no effect on the MDAC installation on Windows XP computers.

MORE INFORMATION

In some circumstances, the installer may appear to complete successfully although no files are updated on the computer. In other cases, the only part of the installation that occurs is the extraction of files from the mdac_typ cabinet, after which the installation process stops with no further information given to the user. In no case does the MDAC 2.7 installer notify the user that it is unable to install on Windows XP.
