This article was previously published under Q304407 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to open a Web on, or publish a Web to, a server that is hosted by your Internet service provider (ISP), you may receive the following error message:
The server sent a response which FrontPage could not parse. If you are trying to connect to a FrontPage Server, check with the server's administrator to make sure the FrontPage Server Extensions are installed properly.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true:
- You are attempting to publish your Web to an Internet-based Web Presence Provider (WPP), such as your Internet service provider.
-and- - Your computer is on a network that is using a firewall or a proxy server to access the Internet.
-and- - The firewall is not configured to allow connections to Internet-based Web Presence Providers.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, configure the firewall or proxy server to allow connections to Internet-based Web Presence Providers.
Contact your system administrator or your Internet service provider to inquire about how to temporarily bypass any firewalls or proxy servers for your Internet connection. After you publish your Web, restore the original firewall or proxy server settings for your Internet connection.
