Catalogs Fail to Import after You Install Commerce 2000 SP1 (304281)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may not be able to import catalogs on your Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 computer. The following error may occur in the Application log after attempts to import catalogs fail:
Event ID: 20489
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Description: 
Database operation failed. Could not find stored procedure
'sp_GetCatalogDefinitionProperties'.
					

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you install Commerce Server 2000 SP1 on a computer that previously had the hotfix from the following Knowledge Base article installed:

289639 Multiple Catalogs in Free Text Search Request Cause Invalid Result Set

RESOLUTION

  1. Delete the CatalogCreate.sql file from the Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server folder and the Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server\SiteCreate folder on your Commerce Server 2000 computer.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs, and then select Commerce Server (not SP1).
  3. Click Change.
  4. In the Program Maintenance window, select Repair, and then accept all defaults.
