PRB: Request for Default Script-Mapped Document Without Read Access Is Unsuccessful (304200)

SYMPTOMS

If you have configured a default document for a directory, when you locate the directory in the browser (for example, http://localhost/test), you receive the following error message:
The page cannot be displayed
If you type the page name as a URL in the browser address bar, however, you can see the page.

CAUSE

You do not have proper permissions set for the directory.

RESOLUTION

  1. Right-click the directory, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Directory tab (if the directory is a regular directory) or the Virtual Directory tab (if the directory is a virtual directory).
  3. Click to select Read permissions, and then set Execute Permissions to Scripts Only.
  4. Click OK.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
