Cannot Run Active Compass with a New MMS Installation (304039)

After you install Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) version 2.2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) as a new installation (not an upgrade), you can connect to the MMS server through a Web browser by using either of the following commands.
MMS Is Configured to Use the Default HTTP Port 80http://your MMS server name MMS Is Configured to Use the Non-Default HTTP Port XXhttp://your MMS server name:XX
where XX is the port number where the HTTP service is configured in MMS.
Although you can connect to the default MMS Web page, when you
click Active Compass to log on with Active Compass, the Web page closes unexpectedly. The following eventID 4097 entry appears in the Application logs:
The application, iexplore.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on date @ time The exception generated was c0000005 at address 01B3C273 (nosymbols)
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
