PRB: Cannot Change Fonts in Visual InterDev Design View (303860)

SYMPTOMS

When you work in the Design View of Visual InterDev, if you try to change the font of selected text, the change is ignored, and the default font selection remains.

CAUSE

This problem can occur when the Ignore font styles specified on Web pages check box is selected under the Accessibility settings of Microsoft Internet Explorer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, configure Internet Explorer as follows:
  1. From the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. On the General tab, click Accessibility.
  3. Clear the Ignore font styles specified on Web pages check box.
If you want to change the font size of selected text in Design View, also clear the Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages check box.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options from the Tools menu.
  2. On the General tab, click Accessibility.
  3. Select the Ignore font styles specified on Web pages check box, and then click OK.
  4. In Visual InterDev, open a Web page, and switch to Design View.
  5. Type some text, and then highlight the text.
  6. From the Fonts drop-down list box, try to change the font.
