Microsoft Server ActiveSync Performance Counters Are Available Only After First Request (303753)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server
This article was previously published under Q303753 SYMPTOMS
When you view the performance counters on a Mobile Information Server computer, the performance monitor counters are only available after the first request to the server:
- The browse counters are only available after a mobile device
attempts to browse the computer.
- The synchronization counters are only available after a mobile
device attempts to synchronize with the server.
- The push counters are only available available after a push
message is sent through the server.
CAUSE
The Microsoft Server Activesync performance object and the related performance monitor counters will be displayed only after the initial synchronization. This is because the dynamic link library (DLL) has to be loaded for the counters to show, and the DLL is loaded during the initial synchronization.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use a client mobile device to make the appropriate request to the server:
- To make the browse counters available, use a client mobile device
to browse the server.
- To make the synchronization counters available, use a client
mobile device to synchronize with the server.
- To make the push counters available, use a client mobile device to
send a push message through the server.
