RESOLUTION
Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2
Obtain and install the patch that is described in the following
Microsoft Knowledge Base article, and then follow the steps that are listed after this
article link:
306121 Malformed 'Dotless' IP address can
cause a Web page to be handled in the intranet zone
To force the Content-Disposition file name to
appear in the
File Open and
File Save dialog boxes, install the patch, and then follow these steps:
- Start Registry Editor.
- Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
- On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
Value name: UseCDFileName
Data type: REG_DWORD
Radix: Hexadecimal
Value
data: 1
- Quit Registry Editor.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1.
