XFOR: Command-Line MAPI Migration Without "/a" or "/p" Switch Stops Responding (303682)

SYMPTOMS

When you run a Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) migration from a command line without the /a or /p switch, Mailmig.exe may stop responding and you may receive the following error message:
The instruction at "0x61da2c0d" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the /a and /p switches when you run a MAPI migration from a command line; the /a and /p switches correspond to the account and password of the Exchange Server 5.5 administrator, respectively.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.
