Joining Computer to Domain Causes "Friendly" User Interface to be Replaced by Classic View (303594)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
This article was previously published under Q303594 SYMPTOMS
On a computer where the Friendly User Interface (Welcome Screen) option is set, if you join the computer to a domain and then restart the computer, you see the classic Windows logon screen instead of the "friendly" welcome screen.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the Friendly User Interface (Welcome Screen) option is available only on a stand-alone computer or in a workgroup. Logging on to a domain structure turns off this option.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
