SYMPTOMS

In the BizTalk Server 2000 Orchestration Designer, if you click Print on the File menu or the Print button on the tool bar when there is no printer installed, the following error occurs and the BizTalk Server 2000 Orchestration Designer shuts down:
Microsoft Visio has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

CAUSE

This error occurs if Microsoft Visio 2002 is installed on the same computer as the Orchestration Designer.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in BizTalk Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1a.

Steps to Reproduce This Behavior

  1. Install BizTalk Server 2000 and BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on a computer that has Visio 2002 installed.
  2. Remove any installed printer.
  3. In the BizTalk Server 2000 Orchestration Designer, click Print on the File menu.
