Visio2002: Stencils Are Missing and "Connect to Directory" Dialog Box Is Not Displayed in Network Tools (303538)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Visio Enterprise Networks Tools, one or both of the following behaviors may occur:
  • When you create a new Active Directory, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), or Novell Directory Services drawing, the Connect to Directory dialog box is not displayed, and the Change Root DN and Export to LDIF commands are missing from the Directory Services menu.
  • The collection of VNE stencils is missing from the Stencils submenu.
If you attempt to reinstall any of these components with the Visio Enterprise Network Tools installer, these components are marked as already installed.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • After Visio Enterprise Network Tools is installed, Visio is uninstalled.

    -and-
  • After Visio is uninstalled, Visio is reinstalled into a different directory.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, uninstall and then reinstall Visio Enterprise Network Tools.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
