PIP2001: Error Message When You Start Picture It!: Class Not Registered (303510)

This article was previously published under Q303510 SYMPTOMS When you attempt to start any of the programs listed at the
beginning of this article, you may receive an error message similar to the
following: Class not registered CAUSE This behavior can occur if the Microsoft Picture It! (or
Microsoft Greetings) installation is missing files or contains corrupted files,
or if some Microsoft Internet Explorer files are missing or corrupted.
RESOLUTIONReinstall the Program To reinstall the program, follow these steps:
- Insert the Picture It! or Greetings CD-ROM into your
computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key as you
insert the compact disc to prevent the Setup program from starting
automatically.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab, click the program, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Next, click Reinstall, and then click Next. When the reinstallation is complete, click OK.
If this method doesn't resolve the issue, proceed to the next
method. Reinstall Internet Explorer 5.5 To reinstall Internet Explorer 5.5, use the following methods in
the order in which they are presented. Quit Programs- Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE.
- In the Close Program dialog box, select a program that you want to quit, and then
click End Task.NOTE: Do not quit the Windows Explorer or Systray programs because
they are Windows components.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each program that is
running.
Uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 You can uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 from the following
Windows operating systems:
- Microsoft Windows 95
- Microsoft Windows 98
- Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
- Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
- Microsoft Windows 2000
NOTE: You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 from Microsoft
Windows Millennium Edition (Me). NOTE: You must have administrative privileges to install or uninstall
Internet Explorer 5.5 from Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000. To
uninstall Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the
following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your
product documentation to complete these
steps.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet
Tools in the list of installed programs, and then click Add/Remove.NOTE: If Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet
Tools is not included in the list of installed programs, do either of
the following:
- If you are running Windows 95 or Windows 98, click Start, click Run, and then type C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\Setup\Setup.exe. Click OK.
- If you are running Windows 2000, click Start, click Run, and then type C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IE
Uninstall\W2kexcp.exe /u . Click OK.
- Click Restore the previous Windows
configuration, or click Advanced to specify any additional components that you want to remove, and
then click OK.
- Click OK to restore the earlier version of Internet Explorer and shared
components.
- When you are prompted to verify that you want to restore
the earlier version, click Yes.
- When you are prompted to restart Windows, click Restart Windows.
Install Internet Explorer 5.5- Insert the Internet Explorer 5.5 CD-ROM into your
computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key as you
insert the compact disc to prevent the Setup program from starting
automatically.
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
- In the Named box, type ie5setup.exe.
- In the Look in box, select the CD-ROM
drive.
- Click Find Now.
- In the search results window, double-click ie5setup.exe, and then follow the instructions to install it.
