ACC2000: Import Dialog Box Opens and Then Immediately Closes When You Try to Import Files (303381)

SYMPTOMS
When you try to import a file into an Access database by clicking Get External Data on the File menu and then clicking Import, the Import dialog box appears only briefly and then closes.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if there was a previous attempt to import a file that is corrupted.
RESOLUTIONWARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk.
To resolve this behavior, delete the relevant key in the registry, and then run the Detect and Repair procedure:
- Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
- In the registry, locate and select the following key:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\Open Find\Microsoft Access\Settings\Import\View - On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click Yes.
- Quit Registry Editor.
- Run a Detect and Repair procedure for Microsoft Office:
- Start Access.
- On the Help menu, click Detect and Repair.
- In the Detect and Repair dialog box, click to select the applicable check boxes, and then click Start.
