FIX: Queue Reader Fails in SQL Server 2000 French Version (303300)

SYMPTOMSNOTE: This article only applies to the French version of SQL Server 2000.
Queued Updating Transactional Replication with the French version of SQL Server 2000, causes the following error message to occur when you run the Queue Reader Agent:

The error message appears in the history of the Queue Reader Agent. You can find the error message in the replication monitor of the SQL Server Enterprise Manager or in the MSqreader_history table in the distribution database.
If you start the Queue Reader from a command line with the Qrdrsvc.exe utility, the following error message displays:

CAUSE
There is a syntax error being caused by quotes in the French comments that are used to update the Queue Reader history.

WORKAROUND
Use the US version of SQL Server 2000 on the distributor.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
