SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Visio, when you try to group a Timeline shape together with milestones or interval markers, you may receive the following message when you attempt to attach additional marker shapes:
This marker has not been associated with a Timeline shape.
To associate milestone or interval markers with a particular timeline you must drop them on top of a Timeline shape. Delete this marker and retry the operation.
CAUSE
The drawing solution contains smart shapes that automatically configure their placement on a Timeline. It is not necessary to manually group these shapes together.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, use the Undo command on the Edit menu, or manually ungroup the Timeline shape. If you receive the following error message
An Error (915) occurred during the action Ungroup.
The selected group is locked. Unlock the group, then try the action again.
click OK and select only the Timeline shape to ungroup. This error message occurs when you select additional milestone or interval markers along with the Timeline shape.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
After you place a shape from the Timeline Shapes stencil onto a Timeline shape, Visio automatically attaches it to the timeline by using logic from the ShapeSheet and Timeline.vsl. Moving or repositioning the Timeline also moves the attached Timeline shapes.
