Error message when you play a Microsoft game: "A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028" (303110)

SYMPTOMS

When you play one of the games listed in the "Applies to" section, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
  • The game intermittently stops responding (hangs).
  • You receive an error message (blue screen) that resembles the following:
    A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:address in VXD TBCSPUD (01).
    The current application will be terminated.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the Voyetra Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card is installed in the computer.

The Santa Cruz sound card drivers may not fully support Direct Sound acceleration.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Turn Off Direct Sound Acceleration in Control Panel

To turn off Direct Sound acceleration, follow these steps:
  1. Close all the programs that are running.
  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. In Control Panel, double-click Santa Cruz Control Panel.
  4. On the Other tab, click to clear the Enable Direct Sound Acceleration check box.
  5. Quit the Santa Cruz Control Panel dialog box.
  6. Start Combat Flight Simulator 2.

Method 2: Edit the Sound Entries in the Cfs2.cfg file
