Create a Visio Shortcut on the Start Menu

To create a new Visio shortcut for the Start menu, use either of the following methods.

Method 1: Use the Create Shortcut Wizard

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar & Start Menu.
  2. Click the Advanced tab, click the Add button, and then click Browse.
  3. Locate and select Visio32.exe, click Open, and then click Next.

    NOTE: The following is the default install location for Visio 2000:

    C:\Program Files\Visio\Visio32.exe

  4. Select the Programs folder or any other folder in which you want the program shortcut to appear, and then click Next.
  5. Type the name that you want to appear on the menu. For example, type Microsoft Visio 2000. Click Finish.
  6. Click OK.

Method 2: Create the Shortcut Through Windows Explorer

  1. Right-click the Start button, and then click Explore.
  2. Locate and expand the All Users folder in the left pane of Windows Explorer, expand Start Menu under All Users, and then select the Programs folder.
  3. Right-click an open area on the right pane of Windows Explorer, point to New, and then click Shortcut.
  4. Click the Browse button, navigate to the location of the Visio program, click Visio32.exe, and then click OK.

    NOTE: The following is the default install location for Visio 2000:

    C:\Program Files\Visio\Visio32.exe

  5. Click Next, and then type the name of the shortcut. For example, type Microsoft Visio 2000. Click Finish.
