The MMS Server Stops Responding to LDAP and HTTP Requests (303052)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2 SP1

This article was previously published under Q303052

SYMPTOMS

Any of the following symptoms may occur:
  • In Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) 2.2 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the MMS server stops responding to Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) requests, typically after an intense period of processing LDAP and HTTP requests. CPU usage may be stuck at 100 percent.
  • Infrequently, disconnected users may cause an access violation even after they are successfully logged off by the MMS server. Under these circumstances, a log message is created in the System event logs. After many of these access violations occur, the server may become unresponsive to LDAP and HHTP requests.
  • If HTTP logging has been configured as Active, a memory leak occurs.

CAUSE

An error in a subcomponent that was used in building Viaserver.exe causes the service to stop working under strenuous conditions.
