Frequent Restarts and Out-of-Memory Error Messages When You Run Windows (303045)

During a Microsoft Windows session, the performance of your computer may be slower than normal, and you may be required to restart your computer repeatedly because of out-of-memory error messages.

You may receive an error message similar to the following:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact your program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive the following information:
VCDLF caused an invalid page fault in module unknown at 0000:f06669f8.
VCDLF caused an invalid page fault in module vcdlf.exe.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the Vcdlf.exe file starts automatically from your startup group.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Find or Search, and then click Files or Folders or For Files and Folders.
- In the Named box, type vcdlf.exe, and then click Find Now or Search Now.
- Right-click the Vcdlf.exe file, and then click Rename.
- Type vcdlf.old, and then press ENTER.
NOTE: If the file is found, remove it from the registry by following these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- Type regedit, and then click OK.
- Open the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run
- Locate either of the following items:
- C:\windows\system\vcdlf.exe
-or-
- DLF_00000B00 C:\windows\system\VCDLF.EXE /C
- Right-click the item, and then click Delete. In the Confirmation window, click YES.
- Quit the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
